Meditation doesn't require a special environment or incense. All you
need is a moment or two to close your eyes and steady your mind. There
are many breathing techniques or, if you prefer, visualization
techniques. Either can be done in the privacy of your cubicle. If you
are self conscious or don't have a private space (you work retail, for
example), pair your coffee breaks with stress relief. You can even
meditate in the bathroom. No one will know.

In today's busy world and economy it's unlikely that any of us will be able to get away for a few days. We have more stress and less time; more responsibilities and less money. However, this should not mean that we neglect to take care of ourselves. Scientific studies are finding that more and more diseases have links to stress. Stress can worsen many symptoms and in some cases even bring them on. People who take steps to actively manage their stress tend to live longer and have a higher quality of life. So what are you doing to manage your stress?
With this column, I'll be helping you find ways throughout your day to reduce your stress. I might suggest a breathing technique that you can do at your desk or a meditation technique to use in the shower. There are numerous ways to manage your stress throughout the day that take little time, equipment, and that draw very little, if any, attention to you.
I'd also like to encourage readers to send me their own little tips and tricks. Email me and periodically I'll pick a submission at random and send the winner a small gift. Feel free to send me success stories as well!
Until next time,
